Thierry is the
only three-time winner of the Football Writers Association Footballer
of the Year three times.
Thierry was runner-up
for the 2003 and 2004 FIFA World Player of the Year award.
Arsenal’s
2005 FA Cup win marked the first time since 1912 that the final was
scoreless.
Thierry shared
the Golden Boot Award with Diego Forlan in 2005. He became the first
player to win it twice in a row.
During 2005–06,
Thierry surpassed Ian Wright’s all-time Arsenal goal-scoring record.
Later in the season, he eclipsed the club’s career mark for league
goals, held by Cliff Bastin.
Before re-signing
Thierry in 2006, Arsenal turned down offers that would have smashed
the 47-million pound transfer fee paid for Zinedine Zidane.
Thierry continues
to wear #14 with Barcelona. Its most heralded owner was Johann Cruyff,
who played for the club from 1973 to 1978.
By the summer of
2007, Thierry was within one goal of Michel Platini on France’s
all-time scoring list.
Thierry's favorite
American athlete is Allen Iverson. He is good friends with 2007 NBA
Finals MVP Tony Parker.

to British model and actress Nicole Merry.
The word “va-va-voom”
was officially added to the Oxford Concise English Dictionary as a result
of the Renault commercials starring Thierry. The phrase has become Thierry's
trademark quote during the spots.
Thierry and his
wife, Nicole, had a daughter in 2005. Her name is Tea. After his first
goal following her birth, Thierry made a T sign with his fingers and
planted a big kiss on it.
Thierry's two
favorite movies are “The Usual Suspects” and “Antwone
Fisher.”
